Ōban Star-Racers

Resistant Like Rush” is the 10th episode of the Cycle Alwas, and the 10th of the overall series. It first aired on June 7, 2006.

Synopsis[]

The Earth Team must win their next race to stay in the playoffs. They now face Rush, a pilot who is large and powerful, just like his ship that moves by propelling magma in its engines. This race is a target race, and whoever has the most targets is the victor.

Full Recap[]

The Earth Team's next race is against Rush, whose star-racer, the Stone Crusher, is as large and powerful as its pilot. This race includes a special rule: target shooting. The winner is decided by how many targets they destroy. Rush gets a head start because Molly doesn't realize that the targets are the key to victory before Don Wei tells her. Molly maneuvers around Rush's monstrous star-racer and uses infrared sensors in order for Jordan to seek out and shoot at hidden targets. The Earth Team wins by a thread, with 25 to 24 target points.

After the race, Molly and Jordan go to explore the planet's rural areas, and uncover some ruins that have some mysterious images on the walls. The ruins then start to sink, and Rush saves Molly from drowning just in time. Rush explains that he was following them and wanted to congratulate them on their victory. Molly and Jordan were lucky that Rush found them, and he takes them back to their pit.

Meanwhile, Don Wei and Rick talk about their first meeting five years ago. Thanks to Don, Rick became a great champion pilot, but Don never told him about his past life. He reveals to Rick that he had a family, and how he had left all remnants of his previous life behind when his first champion was killed in a race.
